Table Cricket

2011 Lord's Taverners Table Cricket Championship

Cricket ACT in conjunction with The Lord's Taverners cordially invites your school to participate in the Fifth Lord's Taverners Table Cricket Championship.

This will be taking place in the Sir Donald Bradman Function Room at Manuka Oval (Time and Date TBC)

Background

Table Cricket provides children and adults with special needs the opportunity to participate in a team environment in a genuine competition. The Australian Sports Commission and ACT Cricket have been working towards establishing this event, with the hope it provides a standard across Australia for Cricket and Special Needs groups.

Table Cricket has been incorporated as part of ACT Cricket's Kookaburra Cup in an effort to involve the tournament within a traditional cricket framework.

This provides an opportunity in itself to create greater awareness for Table Cricket in the cricket community.

The Lord's Taverners are a charity group and is a wonderful sponsor of this new and exciting program for people with a disability. Table cricket was officially launched in 2006 by Prime Minister John Howard at the Prime Ministers XI match against England.
