Putting together four victories in nine matches, the Under 13’s Boys performed consistently throughout the week, managing victories over South Australia Black, North Queensland, Victoria White and Queensland. Zac Maron put together a strong tournament, finishing with 128 runs and 7 wickets in eight games as well as producing some amazing fielding efforts. Boyd Kelly finished third top wicket taker in all divisions in the tournament, finishing with seventeen.

Only just missing out on finals, the Under 14’s Girls performed admirably throughout the week. Starting off the tournament with victories over both the NSW Blues and NSW Cyclones on the first day, the side found themselves in tight contests throughout the week. In their final match, they finished strongly with a dominant 143-22 victory over South Australia. 

The Under 15’s Boys managed two victories during the week, defeating the NSW Blues in a 2-run victory and putting together a comfortable 80 run victory over North Queensland. Owen Levings the star performer for the Under 15’s with 121 runs, playing spinners with terrific footwork as well as some great fielding on the back net.

A very young squad in both the Under 17’s Boys and Girls squads saw only one win throughout the tournament from both teams combined with the girls claiming a 2-run victory over Western Australia. Despite this, Sam Costello from the Under 17’s Boys came in second for the most 7’s hit during the tournament across all divisions with eight while Lauren Phillips from the Under 17’s Girls finished in equal third for player of the division, performing impressively throughout the week.

The 2017 Australian Opens Championships has now begun with the ACT Rockets falling to Queensland in the opening match, before defeating New South Wales in a convincing manner. The Rockets then took on Victoria with Matthew Floros hitting a four off the last ball to see the match end in a draw.

The Under 21’s Boys have started with a win and a loss, also falling to Queensland before defeating New South Wales in a tight contest in which Brad Thomas starred, hitting 26 with the bat and coming up with several crucial run outs to seal the victory.
