Osborne will replace retired player Kris Britt as skipper with Britt moving in to a coaching position with the ACT.
Meteors Coach, James Allsopp, made the important announcement on Wednesday at Manuka Oval ahead of their opening WNCL game on October 6 against the Victorian Spirit at Manuka Oval.
"We believe Erin to be an excellent choice to lead the team into this important summer of the WNCL. Erin has had some great experience representing Australia and learning from some of the best leaders in Cricket” Allsopp said.
“Erin will have world class support around her with our two South African imports Dane Van Niekerk and Marizanne Kapp as well as some stalwart Meteors in Reakes and Goodwin. We can’t wait to see Erin grow into the leader we know she is”
Osborne, 28, was part of the Meteors side last year who narrowly missed out on making the WNCL finals, and will be looking to make an impact this coming season.
"As a group our expectations are high," Osborne said.
"We expect to play finals this year and if we don't we will be very disappointed"
Entry is free to both the upcoming matches at Manuka Oval, and the ACT public are encouraged to come along and support the best female cricketers in the country.
"Hopefully it will be a fun family day. Being a day/nighter on a Friday night hopefully that encourages families to turn up and support us" Osborne said.
