Cricket ACT is pleased to announce that former ACT Umpire, Simon Lightbody, has been elevated to the National Umpiring Panel for season 2017-2018.
Simon began his umpiring journey in the ACT and soon broke into First Grade ranks in 2006-2007. He was quickly promoted to umpire his first Cricket Australia Cup (now known as the Toyota Futures League) match in 2008-2009.
Simon moved to Sydney Grade cricket in 2010-2011, showing amazing perseverance by travelling from Canberra each weekend. He has since worked his way through the Cricket Australia Umpiring Pathway, standing in National Underage Championships, Under 19 Internationals, WNCL and WBBL fixtures. Simon officiated in his debut Sheffield Shield match in Hobart in 2016-2017.
Simon has been recognized for his outstanding commitment, hard work and consistent performance over several seasons.
