The Comets received first innings points against NSW Metro in Round 1 and are currently sitting third on the Toyota Futures League ladder, behind Western Australia and South Australia.

Joe Kershaw and Justin Avendano will both be making their Comets debuts next Monday, while Jay Lenton has been selected to lead the side with Trent Copeland unavailable due to Sheffield Shield duties.

Coach Aiden Blizzard commented on the selections, “Justin (Avendano) has been doing some really cool things with the white ball so we’d love to see him have the opportunity with the red ball and see how far he can progress his career,”

“Joe (Kershaw) is a really good quick bowler and he’s been playing really well in Sydney Premier Cricket so it is a great opportunity for him,”

“We’ve been unlucky to have a few unavailability’s on the bowling front with Trent Copeland obviously playing shield cricket and Harry Medhurst unavailable, but we are confident Kershaw will be a great inclusion.”
