The final for the Canberra Southern Cross Club ACT Zone of the National Indoor Cricket League has been set with the Wolves set to battle the Southern Cross Cricket Assassins for the right to advance to the national finals in September.

In two previous encounters this season, the Southern Cross Cricket Assassins achieved two victories, each by margins of less than thirty runs.

Led by Australian Men's representative Timmy Floros, the Wolves boast a strong squad including the likes of current ACT Men's representative and Australian Junior Alexander Floros and former Australian Men's representative Dwane Hall. Having finished third after the round robin stage, the Wolves defeated the second placed Play Straight Cricket Panthers in the semi-final to advance to this weekend's final.

“Saturday night was an incredible win, the game was in the balance but we managed to win the crucial moments to see us come away with a victory,” said Alexander Floros. “We are yet to beat the Assassins this season, but we believe that we have the strike power to come away with the victory. It will come down to who performs on the night as both sides have great ability and players who can turn the match at any time,” he added.

The Assassins earned their right in the final by virtue of their first placed finish after the round robin stage, and will field a side that includes two-time Alan Wilson Medal winner Vinesh Bennett and current ACT representatives Luke Ryan, Brock Winkler and Tyler Van Luin.

“I’m excited for the challenge this weekend, the Wolves are a very talented team and they will be looking to build on the back of their preliminary final victory,” said Brock Winkler. “We will be ready for whatever comes our way on Saturday, I’m extremely confident in the team’s ability to execute the plans that will be in place. Grand Finals don’t come around every year, so our whole team is keen to go out and enjoy the occasion,” he added.

The final will be streamed on Saturday the 24th of June 2017 via the Cricket Australia Indoor Facebook page and on
