ACTive Academy
ACTive Academy is a coaching service for boys and girls aged 8-16, run by some of the ACT's best high performance coaches.
The ACTive Academy is fundamental in ensuring the ACT continues to be a talent hub for Australian Cricket. It's designed to enhance your cricket skills and general conditioning with a focus on developing the entire person through the vehicle of cricket.
We have re-structured and made modifications for how we deliver this personalised coaching service to our players by utilising our high-performance coaches more frequently. Cricket ACT 's high performance coaches are widely recognised as some of the best producers of talent within the Australian Cricket system.
The ACTive Academy offers both group (max. 3) and 1:1 bookings covering all cricket skill-sets (batting, bowling, wicket-keeping, fielding) as well as specialist school holiday programs.

Coaches
Cricket ACT have a number of experienced coaches that work in ACTive Academy.
Jono Dean
A former Adelaide Striker and ACT Comet, Jono Dean is Cricket ACT’s High Performance coach and assistant coach of the ACT Meteors. He is the head coach of the ACT Emerging Meteors and assists with coaching the ACT/NSW Comets and other various teams when required.
He is known for his explosive batting, including a rapid half century in the 2013 PM’s XI that put him in the national spotlight. He was the second ACT player to score 300 in grade cricket, ending not out after an innings that included 17 sixes and 21 fours.
Michael Barrington-Smith
Michael Barrington-Smith is our Athletic Performance and Sport Science Sport Medicine (SSSM) Manager. His role includes overseeing and delivering all aspects of the physical performance program for the ACT Meteors and Comets and ACT Pathway Teams. He currently coaches the U15 boys with Mick Delaney as well as ACTive Academy.
Michael previously worked as a personal trainer before coming to Cricket ACT in the role of Athletic Performance Officer. This role involved a broad range of high performance work helping the development of all athletes. Michael is also a former ACT first grade and Comets player.
Michael Delaney
Michael Delaney is our High Performance Coach and Talent Manager. As a player-coach at Ginninderra Cricket Club, he coached them from the wooden spoon in 2015/16 to their first Douglas Cup victory in 26 years in 2018/19. He currently coaches the ACT Aces and numerous underage male rep teams.
In his playing career, Delaney represented ACT in U19s before joining the Comets.
Zoe Cooke
A dominant figure in local cricket, the right arm fast bowling all-rounder claimed the SJ Moore Medal for Women’s Player of the Year four years in a row from 2013/14 – 2017/18. She plays for the ACT Meteors and played for the Melbourne Renegades in 2018/19.
Kelly Rowlings
Captain of the ACT Aces, Kelly Rowlings is a talented young cricketer and captain-coach of Weston Creek Molonglo Women’s.
Academy Structure
The Active Academy will cater for aspiring junior cricketers across the Canberra region. Male and female participants are welcome.
Hourly time slots 1:1 or small group bookings (available times outlined below)
All participants receive preferential opportunities to maintain involvement in the Academy from term to term

Costs
Individual 1:1 Session - $900+GST per term
Group Booking (Min, 2 participants, Max. 3 participants) - $1500+GST per term, per group
Casual Booking - $95+GST per hour (subject to availability, preference given to term bookings)
