About Us

Founded in 1922, Cricket ACT (CACT) is a not-for-profit organisation and the peak body for cricket in the ACT and surrounding region. Celebrating our 100-year anniversary in 2022/23, Cricket ACT aims to be the leading sporting organisation in the region, through the provisions of excellence and innovation in each of the programs we administer. From Woolworths Cricket Blast, outdoor/indoor competitions, as well as our high performance and pathway programs, Cricket ACT’s primary purpose is to be a genuine sport-for-all – no matter your skills, experience, background, or ability.

The Board

The Cricket ACT Board comprises nine Directors, with 6 elected by the Members (via the Annual General Meeting) and 3 Directors appointed directly by the Board. Directors serve up to a three-year term and can be eligible for re-election following the completion of a term. The Board consists of Directors with a range of skills and experience in line with the needs of the organisation. Directors are conscious of their obligations and accountability to members as well as other stakeholder, regulatory and ethical expectations.

Appointed Director (2 positions available):

The CACT Board is seeking expressions of interest from individuals who are interested in contributing to the next phase of Cricket ACT’s journey. In addition to having a sound knowledge and experience of corporate governance, applications are sought from prospective candidates who have skill/s in the following areas:

  • Working with Government stakeholders: Experience in and ability to successfully work with government to support the organisation's direction and objectives.
  • Business and/or political network: Has valuable business and/or political experience which can support the organisation's strategic and commercial objectives.
  • Cricket or other sport playing experience and representation: Has represented ACT, a State or Territory, or Australia at any level; Has played cricket at an elite senior level or in an affiliated competition; Has represented ACT or Australia in another sporting code.

The Nominations Committee particularly welcomes application from people who will expand the cultural and age diversity of the Board.

Please note that Directors work on a pro-bono basis and are not entitled to any remuneration for their role as a Director. CACT will, however, meet or reimburse Directors for any reasonable travel and accommodation expenses incurred as part of that Director performing their duties on behalf of the organisation. Meetings are usually held once every two months and generally last for two hours.
