Cricket Australia has announced the 2022/23 domestic summer of cricket which features an enhanced Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) schedule.
Each WNCL team will play 12 matches in a full home-and-away fixture compared to 8 matches in 2021/22.
ACT Meteors Captain Katie Mack said, “We train all year round, we’re full-time contracted players, but when we’re only getting 6 or 8 games it feels like you’re training pretty hard for limited opportunities. So now that we’ll be able to play a few more games and the girls will get more opportunities to show what they’ve got is very exciting.”
The ACT Meteors will play 6 home games – two each against South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria. The venues for the SA and Tasmania matches are to be confirmed, however Victoria will be played at EPC Solar Park.
Canberra is also hosting the Under 16 Female National Championships from January 5 to 12, 2023.
The W/BBL schedule is still being finalised and will be announced soon.
