The Cricket Australia Women’s Youth Selection Panel (WYSP) has today named a 14-player squad for the Australia A Tour to India from 12-27 October.

The squad will play three 50-over matches and three Twenty20s against India A in Mumbai with the first match on 15 October. The team is currently in Brisbane for a pre-tour camp and will depart for Mumbai on Friday.

This is the first official women’s Australia A tour following a restructure of the National Talent Pathway last year, with Australia sending an under-19 side overseas for the first time in April. The defunct Shooting Stars, Australia’s under-23 team, was previously the only underage national team for women.

“We’ve assembled a really exciting and talented group of players who have been presented with a wonderful opportunity to continue to develop their skills against a quality opposition in what will be challenging sub-continent conditions.

“It’s great to see both Sammy-Jo and Chloe back in the Australia setup, both players have been out of the system for a while, but they’ve been able to work their way back through strong performances at domestic level.

“This tour will also provide the opportunity for the players to push for higher honours with strong performances, with players such as Georgia Wareham and Tayla Vlaeminck being selected in the senior national side following impressive performances for the Australia Under 19 side earlier this year.”
