If you’ve been involved the Canberra cricket community over the years, you’ve probably heard the name Benji Floros.

Benji has certainly forged his own path. He took part in Cricket ACT’s outdoor pathway until his late teens when a growth spurt and newfound love for pace bowling saw him develop quite quickly. He then became a squad member for the ACT/NSW Country Comets for a few years before making his Second XI debut for the team in 2019.

He is also known as one of fastest indoor cricket bowlers of his time. He started playing indoor cricket at his family’s business, Weston Indoor Sports, where his father Con and uncle Billy taught him the sport from a young age.

Benji then went on to represent the ACT Rockets, making his debut in 2014 and winning national titles in 2015, 2017 and 2018. He was selected to represent Australia and debuted in the Trans-Tasman series in 2016. His international highlight was winning the 2017 Indoor Cricket World Cup in Dubai.

Benji’s journey is yet another reminder that there is no one size fits all pathway but work ethic and a competitive drive will take you far. His achievements are a great credit to his parents Con and Kerry, his brothers Jason, Matt & Tim along with his uncle Billy who has been a great mentor of his. He is a proud Tuggeranong player and everyone within the community is immensely proud of his achievements. We wish him all the best and look forward to following his journey over the coming years.
