The upcoming CBR Sports Awards are being held tonight with the ACT Rockets having the opportunity to potentially win three awards to add to their national championship trophy and Indoor Cricketer of the year recognition for 2018.

For 2018 the guest speaker is Australian boxing legend Danny Green with acclaimed journalist Samantha Lane as the master of ceremonies for the evening. This is a great opportunity for the ACT Rockets team and staff to mix with sporting legends.

The ACT Rockets (Team of the Year), Matthew Floros (Male Athlete of the Year) and Marie Hart (Outstanding Service to Sport) were all announced as finalists in their respective categories by ACT Minister of Sport Yvette Berry earlier this month with the award evening being held at the National Arboretum tonight from 6:30pm.

The ACT Rockets will be competing with other local sporting talent including Nick Kyrgios and Caleb Antill as well as award winning teams including CBR Brave and the Vice City Rollers. However, these teams could not operate without the outstanding service of individuals including Andrew and Judy Dean, and Robyne Houston.

This is the second year running that Marie Hart has been recognised for her dedication to the ACT Rockets being their team manager since 1997. She is committed to creating not only better players in her team, but also better people and this is attributed to her kind and caring nature.

Matthew Floros, the captain of the ACT Rockets, has also received commendation previously being named the 2017 Cricket Australia Indoor Cricket International Men’s Player of the Year. This also adds to the ACT Rockets winning their third national title in four years in June this year.

Cricket ACT wishes all the nominees the best of luck and will announce the results for our finalists on social media when they are announced.
