Canberra Southern Cross Club (CSCC) have signed on as a sponsor of Cricket ACT for the next three years which will see them become co-naming rights partner of our annual pre-season competition, the Kookaburra Cup.
The tournament, to be now known as the Canberra Southern Cross Club Kookaburra Cup, is a pre-season Twenty20 competition for junior teams aged between 11 to 16 and has been running in Canberra since 2005. This year’s tournament will be held from October 10-12 with team registrations now open.
CSCC is a not-for-profit local community club consisting of five licensed venues across Canberra and the brand-new health and wellness centre in Woden, Stellar Canberra.
In operation since 1972, CSCC contributes over $1.3M annually to over 350 community and sporting groups and we are proud to secure their support for the next three years.
CSCC Acting CEO Lance Prior commented on the new partnership.
“Canberra Southern Cross Club is proud to be partnering with Cricket ACT, and in particular supporting our junior cricketers as the new naming rights partner of the annual Kookaburra Cup,” said Mr Prior
“As a community based club with a proud history of supporting families in Canberra we continue to invest in grassroots sports and the Canberra Southern Cross Club Kookaburra Cup is the perfect partnership which aligns with our core values”.
Cricket ACT CEO Cameron French said the sponsorship was a major boost for local cricket.
“Having a great local business like Canberra Southern Cross Club come on board and commit for the long-term to supporting cricket in the ACT is fantastic.” said French
“We are building towards an even bigger Kookaburra Cup this year with teams playing even more matches, and with the support of Canberra Southern Cross Club we can ensure this is our best tournament yet.”
The partnership will also see the Cricket ACT end-of-year awards night continue to be held in the Corinna Room at CSCC Woden as well as take advantage of their other great function spaces for our major events and launches.
