In day one of the Women’s Ashes Tour match between Australia and an ACT Invitational XI at Manuka Oval, Australia won the toss and elected to bat.

Marizanne Kapp combined with fellow South African Dane van Niekerk to make an early breakthrough, dismissing Nicole Bolton (2) in just the second over.

Australia then began to pile on the runs with Beth Mooney and Alex Blackwell combining for an 81-run partnership before Blackwell was bowled by ACT spinner Sam Bates.

Jensen began her attack on the Australia middle order with the wicket of Ellyse Perry, and began a domino effect with Elyse Villani, Rachel Haynes, Ashleigh Gardner and Alyssa Healy falling victim shortly after.

A century to Beth Mooney (188 retired not out) and half century to Ellyse Perry (58) helped lead Australia to 8-272 before declaring with 19 overs remaining on day one.

ACT came in to bat just after 8pm and it took just one ball from Lauren Cheatle to get the wicket of Katie Mack for a duck.

ACTXI finished the day on 4-71 with Jess Jonassen and Dane van Niekerk at the crease.
