On Sunday our Emerging ACT Comets have come to victory in the NSW District Cricket Association competition, securing their name on the WS Gee Shield. The game held at Campbell Park on Sunday 9th December featured the best local talent under the guidance of coach Adrian Brunker competing against Hawkesbury.

The Emerging Comets took to the crease first, with Ansh Tiwary leading the attack making 47 runs, supported by Oliver Withers making 42 runs. Withers and Raakin Rahman achieved a 73-run partnership before Withers was bowled out. A strong performance from the entire team ensured the score card showed 8/224 at the end of their 50 over campaign. Hawksbury’s Pranav Mandavilli led the bowling attack taking 2/33 off 10 overs, supported by Kyle Wheeler taking 1/24 off 8 overs.

Hawkesbury replied strongly with Tharun Sai leading the score card making 30 not out, supported by Ashwin Sathiyaseelan on 29 runs. The ACT Emerging Comets ensured the run rate remained low with Raakin Rahman leading the bowling attack taking 2/23 off 8 overs, supported by Sineth Herath taking 2/17 off 5 overs. The dominance of the ACT Emerging Comets ensured that Hawkesbury was bowled out for only 135 runs after 39.4 overs. Securing the ACT Comets victory by a convincing 89 runs.


The players from the Under 13 Emerging ACT Comets team will be on break until January where they will return playing in either an under 13 state challenge or stepping under to be included in the team for the under 14 Kookaburra Cup.
