John Gallop Round 3 Summary
In a match reduced to 30 overs per side due to heavy rain, North Canberra-Gungahlin batted first and compiled 9/150. North’s innings were highlighted by 39 runs off 32 balls by Esam Rahman and 20’s from Andrew Glover, Robert Ryan and Sam Taylor. Best of the Ginninderra bowlers were Nicholas Owen (2/25 off eight overs) and Angus Le Lievre (2/27 off six overs). Abode Hotel ACT Meteors player Claire Koski also bowled well taking 2/43.
In reply, Balinder Singh Khillan led Ginninderra to victory with a match winning 51 not out. He was supported by Jarryd Hatton who made 35 runs. In a run chase reduced by DLS, Ginninderra finished on 4/148 off 23.2 overs which gave them victory with a bonus point.
ANU was in trouble with 8/85 off 23 overs when rain washed out play. Only Captain Dan Leerdam with 28 runs off 36 balls offered much resistance. Queanbeyan’s Vele Dukoski destroyed the top order taking 4/18 off six overs supported by Tyler Van Luin with 2/15 off six overs.
West came out blazing against last year’s premiers and surged to 2/168 off 20 overs before rained wash out play. Labib Mahmud led the charge with 67 off 48 balls supported by Lachlan Murchie with 41 runs. Only Creek’s Sam Taylor was able to limit the run rate with 1/26 off five overs.
No play was possible due to weather and ground conditions.
