Former Big Bash champion and Weston Creek Molonglo powerhitter Jono Dean has been selected to take part in Cricket Australia’s exclusive High-Performance Coaching program in Brisbane.

Selected as one of only 22 coaches across the country, Dean was personally invited to travel to the Bupa National Cricket Centre for the week-long program commencing last Thursday.

Dean has been an active coach within various pathway programs within Cricket ACT and was on the coaching panel as a batting specialist for the Abode Hotels ACT Meteors program in 2018-19.

Cricket ACT General Manager High Performance Olivia Thornton said Dean’s selection was worthy recognition of his commitment to developing the next batch of professional cricketers.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Jono to continue to grow and develop as a coach,” said Olivia Thornton

“There were over 90 applications for this year’s intake, so for Jono to have been invited to attend this year is a great achievement for him personally and for our cricket community in general.

“It is quite an extensive program and one that is designed to challenge and stretch participants.

“I look forward to Jono being able to share his learnings with the High-Performance department and the local coaching community.”

In addition to the week-long course in Brisbane, the program will continue over as 12-month period and cover topics such as talent management, game strategies and scenarios and teaching philosophies.
