On a stinking hot Canberra day, cricket saw the arrival of a pace bowling superstar. In a side captained by his brother Shane, Brett Lee bowled one the fastest spells in Prime Minister’s XI history.

Sent into bat, the PM’s XI side made 5 for 334 with David Fitzgerald making 115 and Andrew Symonds 101.

The pair put on 187 for the second wicket. In reply the Brett Lee express had India reeling at 3 for 8 with Brett Lee dismissing Ramesh for 1, VVS Laxman for 3 and Sachin Tendulkar for 2.

He eventually finished with figures of 4 for 25 off his 10 overs with India dismissed for 170, giving the home side a massive 164 run victory.
