The Meteors hopes of a dream finals berth have been dashed in Adelaide with two round losses to the NSW Breakers and SA Scorpions at Karen Rolton Oval.
On Saturday the Meteors faced the reigning champions NSW with captain Erin Osborne winning the toss and choosing to bat first.
NSW skipper Ellyse Perry picked up the early wicket of Katie Mack for a duck. Claire Koski (23) and Osborne (27) both made good starts with the bat but it was Angela Reakes who starred with her 61 runs from 67 deliveries which helped the Meteors to an innings total of 195, bowled out in the 43rd over after a superb performance from Lauren Cheatle (4/41).
Australian players Alyssa Healy and Rachael Haynes got the Breakers off to a strong start with a 80-run partnership before Sam Bates struck to dismiss Haynes.
The Breakers form continued though with Perry notching up a half-century and guiding the Breakers to 5-wicket victory and confirming their place in their 23rd consecutive WNCL final.
Requiring a double bonus point, and other results to go their way, the Meteors went into their clash with the Scorpions on Sunday with slim hopes of squeezing into the final.
South Australian captain Megan Schutt won the toss and chose to have a bat first.
Scorpions opening batter Bridget Patterson put on a masterclass, compiling 113 from 134 balls before Jensen picked up the crucial wicket.
Jensen finished with figures of 4/45 while Osborne and Hancock also picked up two each.
Opening pair Mack 39 and Koski 55 got the Meteors off to a good start with a 87-run partnership but the middle order failed to break the 10-run mark.
Meteors were bowled out in the 44th order falling 47 runs short of the required total.
