The National Indoor Cricket League ACT Zone final will see the undefeated Assassins take on last year’s winners the Wolves to see who qualifies for the national finals in Adelaide in September.
In a rematch of last year’s grand final, the Wolves and the Assassins will meet once again at Weston Indoor Sports on Saturday night from 6:30pm.
The stage is set for an almost identical situation as last year’s grand final, the Assassins finishing first convincingly once again and the Wolves not having defeated them during the season. This did not pose an issue for the Wolves who last year came away with a 17-run victory.
Undefeated throughout the season, the Assassins have clearly been the benchmark for the competition with Vinesh Bennett and Jason Hays leading the way throughout the season. Despite this, the side will be significantly weaker with Australian Men’s player Luke Ryan and ACT Under 21’s captain Brad Thomas both currently injured.
For the Wolves, last year’s DJ Richards Medallist for player of the year Tim Floros has had an outstanding season once again with 137 runs and 19 wickets from ten games. The Wolves have also strengthened their side with the addition of ACT/NSW Country Comets player Shane Devoy joining the team this season.
The winner of the match will represent the ACT in the national finals series in Adelaide to take on the winners of the other zones around Australia to determine a national champion.
