The recent announcement by the ACT Government that the ACT lockdown will be extended until Friday 15 October 2021 is understandably disappointing news to our community and will impact everyone in different ways.

As per previous updates, all community cricket matches, training, and organised cricket activities will still not be permitted during this period of lockdown, in line with Government restrictions.

We remain hopeful to deliver a full cricket season for our community and will continue to work closely with the ACT Government and the Coalition of Major Participation Sports (COMPS) to assist in developing a return to sport road map to ensure that our eventual return to the field is safe.

This is an extremely challenging and difficult time for our region. We encourage our cricketing community to stay connected, look after yourself and continue to do the right thing so that we can keep everyone safe and get back to playing cricket as soon as possible.

We understand that the current situation affects everyone differently and there is no right or wrong way to cope. If you feel you may need additional support to look after your mental health and wellbeing over the coming weeks, there are some great resources available here.

The Cricket ACT office and high performance centre in Phillip will continue to remain closed during the next few weeks. All staff can still be contacted via email or phone if required.

We will continue to update our community with any new information regarding restrictions and protocols and will advise when cricket activities across the capital can continue.

The health and safety of the community remains the highest priority.

Cricket ACT strongly encourages our local cricket community to consider receiving the COVID-19 vaccination to help protect yourselves and others from COVID-19, however at this stage there is no mandatory requirement for those participating in community sport to receive a vaccination in order to return to play.

Please stay safe and follow all ACT Government advice during this time.
