The Under 15 Female National Championships kicked off across Canberra on Wednesday with ACT/NSW Country defeating Vic Country by 12-runs. 

Vic Country won the toss and decided to send ACT/NSW Country in to bat at Kippax Oval. 

Weston Creek Molonglo junior Clare Levings scored 26 at the top of the order to get the side off to a strong start while Maddison McGuigan 29 and Katie Letcher 28 also performed well. 

Setting Vic Country the target of 168 to win, the home side got off to a great start with two wickets falling early. 

Vic Country looked in a commanding position with Jasmine Nevins and Georgia Gall combining for a 122-run partnership in the middle of the order. 

It wasn't enough however with Vic Country finishing their overs 12-runs short. 

ACT/NSW Country's second match is currently underway against Western Australia at Harrison Oval.
