ACT squads for National U19s Championships named

Cricket ACT is pleased to announce the two squads to contest the upcoming Male and Female Under-19s National Championships, another important step in the region’s cricket development pathways.

The Male Under-19s head to Albury this week to contest their National Championships, which will be played at various grounds on the NSW-Victoria border from Thursday, 30 November to Thursday, 7 December.

The Under 19 Male National Championships will be contested by all eight Australian state and territory associations, with New South Wales and Victoria both entering Country and Metro teams, to form a ten-team competition.

This will apply for the Under 19 Female National Championships to be played in Brisbane from 14-21 December as well, with the exception of a Papua New Guinea Under-23s side competing in place of a team from the Northern Territory.

The ACT squads will be led well, with ACT Comets Head Coach Jono Dean taking charged of the Male squad in Albury this week, while Michael Minns continues his work with this current group of players, taking the Female squad to Brisbane.

Cricket ACT Head of Cricket Stuart Karppinen says the National Championships have always been a major component of the Australian cricket pathways.

“The Australian age group championships have been going since 1960 and have always allowed talented players to challenge themselves at a higher level against likeminded peers.

“We’re very fortunate to have this opportunity available once again for our local ACT cricket talent.”
