Level 3 Coaches

Vusi Sibanda

Vusi Sibanda is a former Zimbabwean international cricketer who played Test, One Day and T20 matches for his native country. Vusi brings extensive experience to the role given his exposure to cricket all around the world, in varying conditions and seeing firsthand how some of the greats played the game. Vusi is a High-Performance Coach who assists the ACT Meteors, ACT Comets and a number of pathway programs.

Erin Osborne

Erin Osborne is a success story for the ACT Meteors. Erin has played all forms of cricket for the Australian Women’s Cricket Team including winning a World Cup. Erin was captain and a leading player for the ACT Meteors for 10 years and following her retirement, is now the Meteors Head Coach. 

Jono Dean

A former Adelaide Striker and ACT Comet player, Jono Dean is now Cricket ACT’s Head Coach of the ACT Comets. He is known for his explosive batting, including a rapid half century in the 2013 PM’s XI that put him in the national spotlight. He was the second ACT player to score 300 in grade cricket, ending not out after an innings that included 17 sixes and 21 fours.

Michael Barrington-Smith

Michael Barrington-Smith is our Athletic Performance and Sport Science Sport Medicine (SSSM) Manager. His role includes overseeing and delivering all aspects of the physical performance program for the ACT Meteors, ACT Comets and ACT Pathway Teams. 

Level 2 Coaches 

Aidan Gunning

Aidan has been involved in cricket as a coach for 6 years, in various roles in Australia. More recently he was the lead coach at the NextGen Academy in the UK. Aidan specialises in fast bowling biomechanics and action reconstruction, as well as base batting technique and game plan management.

Fletcher Tarry

Fletcher has been involved in cricket for a number of years and even had the opportunity to coach in the UK where he was responsible for coaching multiple club teams. Fletcher specialises in batting, spin bowling and fielding.

Jake Smith

Jake has coached regularly for the last 3 years, two of those years within the ACTive Academy. Jake specialises in batting, spin bowling (particularly leg spin) and fielding coaching.

 

Level 1 Coaches

Harrison Jones

Harrison has been involved in Canberra’s first grade cricket competition for a number of years playing for North Canberra Gungahlin Cricket Club and is known for his fast-paced bowling. Harrison specialises in swing and pace bowling. 

Josh McIntyre

Josh has represented Radford in both club cricket and as a member of the Radford 1st XI for the last four years and is currently the 2023–24 Captain. Josh specialises in batting and wicket keeping.

Otto Wrakonei

Otto has been involved in Cricket for four years. He has coached the PNG Academy for the U19s and senior squads, and the Womens Lewas and Silas as a S&C/skills coach. Otto specialises in all forms of bowling and fielding.
