ACT Comets ready to take on the Top End

The ACT Comets are preparing to head north to take part in the exciting 2023 CDU Men’s Top End T20 Series held in Darwin, NT.

In just its second year, the series forms part of NT Cricket’s ‘Cricket 365 Program’ which is designed to showcase emerging cricket talent and offer players an opportunity to play high quality cricket during the winter months.

Allrounder Brad Thomas said he was looking forward to representing the ACT against some high-quality opposition.

“This (series) gives a lot of us the opportunity to play against a calibre of players that we may not have had the chance to play against before,” said Thomas.

“I'm a proud ACT boy, and I think it's the same for a lot of the guys in the squad who are really looking forward to getting out there and putting on that Comets shirt.”

Under the leadership of newly appointed ACT Comets Head Coach Jono Dean, the series will see the Comets compete against a mix of international, national, and local teams including the Pakistan Shaheens (Pakistan A), Papua New Guinea Barras, Melbourne Stars Academy, Melbourne Renegades Academy and the home side, the NT Strike.

After four years of involvement with the ACT Meteors program, Dean said it was an exciting time to be shifting his focus.

“I’m really looking forward to sinking my teeth into the Comets space, obviously being a past player myself over the past 15-years,” said Dean.

“What a fantastic opportunity it is this year to see the Comets back as a standalone side in the Second XI."
