Premier Cricket & Volunteer Specialist

Cricket ACT Full Time, 12-Month Contract

Cricket ACT is seeking a highly organised and relationship-focused professional to lead the administration of ACT Premier Cricket and support the growth and development of our volunteer network.

This is a diverse role that combines competition administration, stakeholder engagement, volunteer support and community sport operations. While experience in cricket would be an advantage, it is not essential. We're looking for someone who can build strong relationships, manage competing priorities and deliver great outcomes for clubs, volunteers and the wider cricket community.

Key Responsibilities

Premier Cricket Competition

  • Coordinate the administration and delivery of the ACT Premier Cricket Competition.
  • Manage fixtures, results, statistics, venue allocations and competition records.
  • Build strong relationships with Premier Cricket clubs and act as their key point of contact.
  • Coordinate disciplinary and governance processes in line with Cricket ACT policies.
  • Support the annual review of competition rules and playing conditions.
  • Prepare reports and maintain accurate competition documentation.

Volunteer Engagement

  • Support the recruitment, development and retention of volunteers across the ACT cricket community.
  • Deliver volunteer training, resources and development opportunities.
  • Work with clubs to create positive and inclusive volunteer experiences.
  • Assist in implementing initiatives that strengthen volunteer participation and club sustainability.
  • Build strong relationships with clubs, schools and community stakeholders.

About You

You'll bring:

  • Experience in volunteer management, community engagement, sport administration, program coordination or a related field.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organisational, administrative and time management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound judgement, professionalism and attention to detail.

Desirable

  • Experience coordinating competitions, leagues or structured programs.
  • Understanding of the sporting, community or not-for-profit sector.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Ability to use data and insights to inform decision-making.

Requirements

  • Current driver's licence.
  • Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • Working With Vulnerable People registration (or ability to obtain).

Apprentice Curator - Sports Turf Management

Full-Time Apprenticeship

Love sport? Enjoy working outdoors? Looking for a career rather than just a job?

Cricket ACT is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated First Year Apprentice Curator to join our Sportsgrounds team and begin a career in Sports Turf Management.

Working alongside experienced Sports Turf professionals, you'll learn the skills required to prepare and maintain playing surfaces at Manuka Oval, one of Canberra's premier sporting venues. This is a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn, complete a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management, and build a career in a growing industry.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of turf wickets, outfields and training facilities.
  • Operating and maintaining machinery and equipment.
  • Fertilising, top dressing and re-turfing sports surfaces.
  • Assisting with irrigation system maintenance and repairs.
  • Identifying and controlling weeds and pests.
  • Supporting general sportsground and landscape maintenance activities.
  • Learning from experienced Sports Turf professionals in a practical, hands-on environment.

About You

You will:

  • Have a genuine interest in sport, turf management or horticulture.
  • Enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Be reliable, motivated and willing to learn.
  • Have a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Have completed Year 12 (or equivalent).
  • Hold a current ACT Driver Licence (or equivalent).
  • Be committed to completing a four-year apprenticeship and achieving a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management.
