ACT Meteors name extended squad to host New South Wales

The ACT Meteors have named an extended squad of 14 players for their final round of Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL), as Head Coach Erin Osborne waits to finalise the side for next week’s round of matches against New South Wales.

The Meteors’ final matches of this summer’s WNCL campaign will be played at EPC Solar Park in Phillip next Tuesday, 30 January, and Thursday, 1 February.

Olivia Porter was ruled out with injury during the round against Victoria last week, with legspinner Chelsea Moscript returning to the squad. Fast bowler Gabby Sutcliffe also makes her long-awaited return from injury suffered after the WBBL tournament.

The series against NSW always represents one final chance for the Meteors to finish the season well, with the ACT-NSW rivalry always an easy contest to get into.

“The players are determined reach the benchmarks we’ve been striving for this summer, and with so many of the squad having a history with the NSW pathways, there is a healthy anticipation for this final round of matches,” Osborne said.

“Injuries always mount up by the end of a season, and we’ll take the weekend to work through a couple of niggles with a handful of players before finalising the side for Tuesday.”
