Cricket ACT celebrated its annual ACT Cricket Awards at the Hellenic Club in Woden on Thursday evening, recognising individual and team performances from the local ACT Premier and Indoor Cricket competitions, along with our ACT representative teams, the ACT Meteors and Comets.
ACT Meteors allrounder Grace Dignam received her first Calver Medal for ACT Meteors Player of the Year. Dignam had a standout season in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) with both bat and ball, recording career-best bowling figure of 4-44 in the side’s first win of the season against Victoria, and securing her highest score of 50 (59) against NSW. Her strong performances ultimately earned her selection in the Australian Green v Gold exhibition match held at EPC Solar Park last month.
Zak Keogh capped off a stellar season across both Premier and representative cricket, picking up both the D.B Robin Medal for Male Premier Cricketer of the Year and the Solway Medal for ACT Comets Player of the Year.
Scoring a remarkable 1,183 runs for Weston Creek Molonglo throughout the ACT Premier season, Keogh has been a consistent performer in First Grade for a number of years.
Meanwhile, Keogh’s Second XI season was highlighted by a phenomenal unbeaten double century of 214 against South Australia. Scoring 358 runs for the ACT Comets across the season, his contribution and value to the top-order could not be beaten.
Gininnderra Cricket Club’s Jessica Galeano was rewarded for her contributions across the Women’s Grade competition, claiming her first S.J Moore Medal for Women’s Grade Player of the Year. Galeano picked up 22 wickets across the season, while amassing 270 runs and helping guide her team to appearances in both the Glenda Hall Shield final and Lynne O’Meara Cup decider.
