ACT Meteors fans are in for an action-packed summer of cricket with Cricket Australia today releasing the full 43-match 2023/24 Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) fixtures.
The ACT Meteors will be on the road to open their season campaign with a double-header against South Australia on 22 and 24 September at Adelaide’s Karen Rolton Oval.
Canberra supporters won’t have to wait long to get their first taste of live WNCL action with the Meteors to face reigning back-to-back title holders Tasmania in two blockbuster clashes on 8 and 10 October at EPC Solar Park.
Under the expert guidance of newly appointed Head Coach and former captain Erin Osborne, the Meteors are busy preparing for the summer ahead.
“It’s great to have the schedule sorted now and have the final piece of our planning in place,” Osborne said.
“The squad has come together really well already, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the experience we gained last season put into action this season.
“We’ve added some really exciting young talent to our squad, and I can’t wait to see all of our new players in action.”
Osborne has just returned from the UK after fulfilling Australia A Assistant Coach duties as part of the Women’s Ashes tour.
The full Meteors squad returned to pre-season training in May and will be attacking the new season with a host of fresh faces including Canberra product Grace Lyon, Grace Dignam, Amy Hunter, and Paris Bowdler.
The WNCL competition takes a six-week break from mid-October to accommodate the Women’s Big Bash League season.
