Cricket ACT welcomes today’s announcement from Cricket Australia that the annual Prime Minister's XI match will be returning as a four-day fixture in 2023/24.
Another big summer of cricket in Canberra will begin with the Prime Minister's XI facing Pakistan in a four-day clash from Wednesday, 6 December, the major warm-up match ahead of the First NRMA Insurance Test in Perth.
The four-day format follows on from last summer's successful First Class debut, where a strong PM’s XI outfit gave the touring West Indies a great contest ahead of the Test Series.
“The Prime Minister's XI will always be a special match in the hearts of our Canberra cricket community, and it's great to see it feature prominently on the Australian cricket calendar,” said Cricket ACT CEO Olivia Thornton.
“For this match to kick off the international portion of our cricket summer is very fitting, and we encourage local supporters to get along to Manuka Oval and soak in the atmosphere at one of the best boutique cricket grounds in the country.
“This summer truly caters for every type of cricket fan and we thank Cricket Australia for continuing to bring top quality matches to the ACT.”
Anthony Albanese, who is the 10th Australian Prime Minister to host a Prime Minister's XI side, will announce further details on team selection as the match draws nearer.
