ACT Meteors Head Coach Erin Osborne has made one change to the squad to take on reigning back-to-back Women’s National Cricket League champions Tasmania, in two matches at EPC Solar Park in Phillip this Sunday and next Tuesday.
Local Cricket ACT pathways product Alana Horsfall has been rewarded for early performances with the bat in the first round of elite North v South matches last weekend and is in line to make her WNCL debut. She replaces batting allrounder Olivia Porter.
Katie Mack leads an otherwise unchanged squad from the opening round against South Australia last month, with the Meteors determined to post their first wins of the season.
Tasmania had a bye in the first round of matches and start their title defence on the road, returning the scene of their last WNCL loss, with the ACT knocking the Tigers over by 11 runs at Phillip in January.
“We had moments of good performances against a strong South Australian team,” Head Coach Erin Osborne said, in naming the squad.
“As we come up against an experienced Tasmanian squad we look to expand on our previous performance for longer periods in the game.”
Skipper Katie Mack said in a press conference today the team is shaping up well for the match.
"We were unfortunate to go down to SA, but we had a few good performances in there and we got better from game to game, so we're really looking forward to this weekend.
"It will be tough against Tassie, they've won the last two seasons, so it will be a good challenge for us. I think we're getting better and better each game, so hopefully we can stack on the runs and then let our bowling unit defend it."
