ACT Meteors name squad to host Queensland in Canberra

It’s a welcome return to full strength for the ACT Meteors taking on Queensland at EPC Solar Park in Phillip from Tuesday, with a host of players returning from injuries suffered during the matches against Tasmania back in October.

Vice Captains Holly Ferling and Carly Leeson return to the squad after sustaining injuries in the first game against the Tigers, while Gabby Sutcliffe and Angie Genford were both ruled out of the second game.

Katie Mack again leads the Meteors into this round against the Fire fresh from a second straight Women’s Big Bash League title with the Adelaide Strikers last week, and in which she finished sixth on the tournament runs tally with 452 runs from 15 matches.

Sydney Thunder pair Olivia Porter and Paris Bowdler will also rejoin the Meteors after their WBBL campaign ended with an appearance in the Eliminator Final.

Cricket ACT Head of Elite Teams, Mick Delaney, said there was a noticeable buzz about a return to 50-over cricket for the Meteors.

“We are excited for our return to WNCL Cricket after the WBBL break, and I couldn't be prouder of the dedication, application and commitment during this period.

“The players have worked tirelessly on key areas of improvement, and we’re itching to put all of the hard work into action against a quality team like Queensland,” Delaney said.
