Cricket ACT is pleased to confirm the squad to contest the upcoming Under-16s Female National Championships, the first step for young women on the region’s cricket development pathways to test themselves at national level.
The Under-16s squad are in Hobart this week to contest their National Championships, which will be played at various grounds in and around the Tasmanian capital from Thursday 18 January to Thursday 25 January.
The Under 16s Female National Championships will be contested by all Australian state and territory associations bar the Northern Territory, with New South Wales and Victoria both entering Country and Metro teams, to form a nine-team competition.
CACT Head of Cricket Stuart Karppinen says the National Championships provide an important opportunity for young players from the ACT to measure themselves against state and territory counterparts.
“We’re really keen to see our best young female ACT cricket talent compete on the national stage, and we’re pleased we can provide them with this same opportunity as with our other age group squads.
“We hope our young players enjoy the carnival first and foremost, and create great cricket memories that will last for the rest of their careers all because they took the opportunity to challenge themselves in Tasmania this week.”
Live scorecards of the tournament can be found on PlayHQ.
