Hunter included in Australian Under-19 squad for Tri-Series

ACT Meteors fast bowler Amy Hunter has been named in the Australian squads for the Women's Under-19 Tri-series to be played in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast in September.

The Cricket Australia Youth Selection Panel named 15-player squads for each format (Twenty20 and 50-over) for the Tri series against New Zealand and Sri Lanka, with former Australian player Kristen Beams named as the head coach of the squad.

Australia will play four T20s and two One-Day matches across the 14-day tri-series.

It will be Hunter's second inclusion in a national squad in 2024, after she was initially included in Under-19 Tour of Sri Lanka squad back in April. An injury prior to the squad's departure deprived her of a national debut.

Hunter was named in the Under-19s Female National Championships Team of the Tournament last season, alongside Meteors teammate Paris Bowdler, and she also spent some time with the Australian Women's squad for the T20Is in Canberra last January, with another Meteors teammate, Grace Lyons.

Sonya Thompson, Cricket Australia Head of National Development, said:

"The multi-format series will offer players a wonderful opportunity to continue to develop their skills and test themselves against international competition

"The T20 tri series will be an ideal preparation for the team ahead of the 2025 ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup in Malaysia.

"Strengthening our pathway programs is a top priority for Australian Cricket, and we're dedicated to creating more opportunities for our best young talent."
