Intravision ACT Meteors Head Coach Erin Osborne has named her first squad of the 2024/2025 Women’s National Cricket League season, with the team heading to Adelaide this week to take on South Australia on Friday and Sunday.
Once again captained by Katie Mack, the 13-player Meteors squad includes all four new recruits in top order batter Shivani Mehta, legspinners Anesu Mushangwe and Chelsea Moscript, along with the return of local product Zoe Cooke, after the allrounder spent last season in Queensland.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing the team take the field after a long off-season,” Osborne said.
“It’s been so pleasing to see the players commit to a long lead-in, and especially through a Canberra winter, but the time we’ve spent together has been really rewarding.
“We’ve been fortunate to gain a lot of centre wicket training time at Chisholm Oval over the last month, and I’d love to see it translate into form out on the field this week in Adelaide.”
With a second round bye to follow, the opening round of WNCL matches in Adelaide will be the Meteors’ only 50-over outings prior to the new T20 Spring Challenge taking over in October prior to the Women’s Big Bash League.
The games on Friday and Sunday both get underway at 10.30am AEST at Karen Rolton Oval and can be seen live on Kayo Sports and the CA Live App, while live scores can be found on both the Cricket ACT website and www.cricket.com.au.
