Cricket ACT today announces that Erin Osborne will be stepping down from her role as Head Coach of the ACT Meteors and Female Program Lead to pursue an exciting coaching opportunity overseas.
Erin has been a cornerstone of the Cricket ACT community for the past decade, making an incredible impact both on and off the field. Having joined Cricket ACT as a player before transitioning into coaching and leadership roles, Erin’s dedication and influence has helped shape the next generation of cricketers in Canberra.
Reflecting on her time with Cricket ACT, Osborne said:
“I am grateful to have finished my playing career at Cricket ACT and begin my coaching career. It has been my home for the last 10 years and I have lots of fond memories. I have made the difficult decision to step down as Female Talent Lead to pursue an opportunity overseas to further develop my coaching skills. I wish Cricket ACT all the best for what is an exciting time for the organisation.”
A Decade of Contribution and Leadership
Erin’s journey with Cricket ACT began in 2015 when she joined the ACT Meteors as a player, quickly establishing herself as a leader on and off the field. She captained the Meteors in 20 matches – the third most in the team’s history – and represented the side in 49 matches overall.
Beyond her domestic success, Osborne’s decorated international career includes 121 appearances for Australia across all three formats, where her skill, composure, and cricketing intellect earned her recognition as one of the most respected figures in the game.
Following her playing, Erin transitioned seamlessly into coaching and program leadership at Cricket ACT. Her roles included:
- Male Pathway Manager (from 1 July 2021)
- Head Coach of the ACT Meteors (from 1 July 2023)
- Female Program Lead (from July 1 2025)
Her time in these positions has seen her play a pivotal role in shaping Cricket ACT’s development structures, mentoring both male and female athletes, and fostering a culture of excellence and inclusivity across all programs.
Coaching Highlights
Among her many achievements in the game, Osborne recalls a particularly special moment working with Meteors batter and now vice-captain Grace Lyons during the 2024/25 season.
“As a coach, a highlight is probably was a breakout moment with Gracie Lyons last year. It was our last game of the season, and she got 96 runs. But the conversation we had prior to her going out — she was in tears and didn’t think that she belonged at this level — and then to pull it all together and go out and score a highest individual score of 96 was pretty special to watch.”
Moments like these reflect Erin’s strength as a mentor and her ability to bring the best out of players – not only developing their cricketing skills but also nurturing their confidence and belief.
