All you need to know about the Brad Haddin Shield

What is the Brad Haddin Shield?

The Brad Haddin Shield is a new Cricket ACT competition designed to bring together some of the ACT’s best emerging cricketers and strengthen the pathway to Premier and representative cricket.

Featuring all eight ACT Premier Cricket clubs, the competition provides young players with more opportunities to play high-quality cricket against others at a similar stage of their development.

Who is it for?

The Brad Haddin Shield is primarily an Under 16 male competition, providing an important link between junior and senior cricket.

It also creates development opportunities for leading U19 female players, as well as regional players currently competing outside Cricket ACT competitions.

How does it work?

The competition features a combination of T20 and 50-over matches, helping players develop their skills across different formats.

Matches will be scheduled in blocks throughout the season, primarily during school holiday periods, to complement existing club cricket commitments.

Why Brad Haddin?

The competition is named after Brad Haddin, one of the ACT cricket pathway’s most successful products.

Haddin developed through the Canberra cricket system before going on to represent Australia across all three formats, including 66 Test matches.

Naming the competition in his honour reflects the pathway the competition aims to strengthen, giving the next generation of ACT cricketers opportunities to develop, compete and take the next step in their cricket journey.

The inaugural Brad Haddin Shield gets underway from 8 October 2026 and concludes on the 28 January 2027.
